ABOUT OUR PASTOR

Pastor Michele Teague-Humphrey, a licensed and ordained minister, has served as the pastor of Imani United Church of Christ located in Euclid, Ohio for over a decade.

Pastor Humphrey is known for ministering on tough topics such as domestic violence, sexual abuse, abusive power in leadership, issues that affect the black community, and empowering messages that challenge the listener to move beyond mediocrity and complacency in order to live an empowered life through Jesus Christ.

Because of Pastor Humphrey's care for the least in society which is seen through Imani Church's outreach and evangelistic efforts, Pastor Humphrey’s ministry has drawn many new Christians and first-time churchgoers.  Under Pastor Humphrey’s leadership, Imani UCC has a social justice ministry that speaks to the ills of the community to hold those in leadership accountable, a food pantry that feeds hundreds of families monthly, a clothing ministry, and many other ministries that help to provide physical, spiritual and social empowerment. In 2018 Pastor Humphrey was recognized by the city of Euclid for her community work and was honored with a tree planted in her name as part of their annual Arbor Day Celebration. Pastor Humphrey, along with another African American woman, were the first African Americans in the city of Euclid to receive this particular honor.

Pastor Humphrey is the founder of the LEAH Ministry which is a spiritual empowerment organization that empowers women to live at their greatest and fullest potential.  Pastor Humphrey currently serves on the Stopping Cancer in Its Tracks (SCIIT) advisory board of Cleveland Clinic which works with churches in helping to educate the community in the importance of early detection and preventative care. She also serves on the Community Engagement Team of the United Church of Christ. Pastor Humphrey is the author of a prayer book entitled, “Soulful Prayers for Women: Trusting God with Matters of Your Heart.”

Pastor Humphrey earned a Master of Arts degree in 2005 from Ashland Theological Seminary in Christian Ministry and a Diploma of Theology in Black Church Studies in 2001 from the McCreary Center for African American Religious Studies.

Pastor Humphrey is married to Deacon Sylvester Humphrey. They are a blended family that consists of 5 adult children and 8 grandchildren.

The scripture that Pastor Humphrey lives by is Romans 8:31, “If God be for us, who can be against us?”
